During the 2025 Annual Conference, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) elected Mark Pirker of our Austrian member Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) to the Steering Committee.

Mark is the Team Lead of Strategic Portfolio Management at BIG in Vienna. Before joining BIG, he spent around ten years in various roles in the private sector. At BIG, he is responsible for long‑term portfolio strategy, market analysis, and risk management, working closely with operational units and leadership. He also serves as the project lead of BIG’s “New Work” initiative—an interdisciplinary transformation project aimed at modernising office work and workspace standards across the Austrian public administration. His work focuses on translating strategic trends into practical, portfolio‑wide solutions that support the future of public‑sector real estate.

For Mark, PuRE‑net represents the European idea at its best: pragmatic, efficient, supportive, open, and enriched by the diversity of its members. The network enables meaningful exchange of knowledge and ideas that can be scaled within member organisations. It brings together committed, approachable professionals who value collaboration and constructive dialogue. Since taking over BIG’s internal PuRE‑net coordination in 2021, he has strengthened organisational engagement—especially among younger colleagues—and helped drive several initiatives, including organizing the Office Space Solutions Working Table in 2024 and 2025 and co‑initiating the first‑ever Prison Working Table (with the Netherlands’ RVB).

As a member of the Steering Committee, he is committed to ensuring that PuRE‑net remains methodologically current, thematically relevant, and impactful for public real estate organisations across Europe.
