On 16 January, Agenzia del Demanio (Italy) hosted an online workshop for members of the PuRE-net network and of the Facility Management Network in which Agenzia presented its newly developed decision support model

The workshop was part of the activities of the TSI project “Creating novel decision support tools and financing instruments to improve ESG value and disaster risk resilience of public real estate”. TSI projects are, funded by the European Commission through the Technical Support Instrument and managed by the EC’s DG REFORM.

Within this Project, carried out with Agenzia del Demanio and other Italian public administrations with the support of KPMG and Bocconi University, a Decision Support Model (DSM), based on ESG criteria, has been developed, drawing on an in-depth analysis of the activities already conducted by the Agency and relevant European good practices. The DSM prototype serves the following purposes:

·         Supporting investment processes and building allocation scenarios

·         Facilitating the assessment and measurement of social impact across alternative proposals

·         Measuring the ESG impacts generated by real estate transformation projects

·         Supporting strategic planning by identifying expected benefits for territories and relevant user groups

The aim of the workshop was to engage with representatives of PuRE-net and FMN to disseminate the methodology, its functioning and results of the preliminary application of the DSM prototype; and to gather first-hand feedback and stimulate discussion on key aspects related to the application of frameworks, methodologies, and tools that incorporate ESG metrics—particularly addressing the 'S' (social) dimension.

Around 50 people attended, and after the presentation of the model, a Q&A session was held in which several questions were asked, particularly about monitoring the S criteria over time and how to develop an “S”-related benchmark at European level.

The presentation used for the webinar can be found on the PuRE-net website:
